What are Global Schools?
The Global Schools Programme (GSP) is the flagship primary and secondary education programme of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The core mission of the GSP is to equip students with the values and skills they need to succeed in an increasingly complex and challenging world.
GSP believes that teachers play a critical role in the learning process. Therefore, it offers free tools, frameworks and training to help them teach sustainable development in the classroom. At the same time, it introduces various pedagogical approaches to develop student skills, promote active learning and student-centred teaching methods, and improve the overall quality of education.
In this way, GSP enables students not only to achieve academic success but also to act consciously and effectively on issues such as sustainable development, global issues and social responsibility. This gives students, as global citizens, the ability to act with a sense of world citizenship and to find solutions for a sustainable future.
Preparing for the Future: Sustainable Development and the Challenges of the 21st Century
In a world facing 21st century challenges, urgent attention to sustainable development is critical to the future of our planet and humanity. Scientists note that climate change could threaten livelihoods, trigger conflicts, accelerate biodiversity loss, exacerbate disease outbreaks, destabilise political and social systems, cause economic shocks and increase inequalities.
For this reason, 17 ambitious goals, such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), targeted to be achieved by 2030, have been adopted by all governments for a greener, healthier, more peaceful and more equal planet.
Bizim Okul’s education model has been shaped in response to these global challenges. It aims to provide students not only with academic achievement but also with an in-depth understanding of issues such as sustainable development, environmental awareness and social responsibility.
Our students have opportunities to learn in a variety of disciplines to understand the concept of sustainability and grasp the importance of the SDGs. Active learning methods and project-based approaches are utilised to enable our students to make positive changes in their communities and around the world.
Our School equips our students to tackle the challenges of sustainable development and the 21st century in order to develop future leaders and world citizens.
Education to Shape the Future: Bizim Okul’s Approach
Education for a better world is key to changing course and overcoming profound challenges. In particular, future generations need to have the necessary knowledge, values and skills to better navigate the uncertain future and build more prosperous communities.
Bizim Okul’s education model centres on the principles of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). This approach not only offers students the opportunity to shape a better world, but is also recognised as an important tool that enables them to perform better at school.
ESD provides students with an in-depth understanding of issues such as environmental awareness, social responsibility, cultural awareness and sustainability. In this way, students grow up as individuals who are sensitive to world problems, solution-oriented and have ethical values.
Bizim School integrates ESD principles into every level of the curriculum, enabling students to learn actively and understand in depth. Project-based learning and community-orientated activities encourage students to generate practical solutions to real-world problems.
Bizim Okul’s education model enables students not only to achieve academic success, but also to make a positive impact on society as future leaders and world citizens. Education to shape the future is the cornerstone of Bizim School and inspires students to build a better world.
Change in Education: Raising the Leaders of the Future
With a large proportion of our planet’s population under the age of 30, educators and schools have a unique opportunity to educate the world’s largest generation of young people to meet the challenges of the 21st century and lead sustainable, healthy and productive lives.
Our School plays an important role in this process of change. Our educators aim to equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with values such as sustainability, social responsibility and leadership. In this way, students grow up as individuals who are sensitive to world problems, solution-oriented and have ethical values.
Our school aims to provide students with life skills that cannot be learnt only from textbooks. Practices such as active learning methods, project-based learning and community service enable our students to learn through real-world experiences. This enables them to become future leaders and make positive change in their communities.
Our School aims to educate students not only as individuals but also as global citizens. In an environment where students from various cultures come together, the values of cultural understanding, tolerance and co-operation are at the forefront. This encourages our students to embrace differences and seek solutions to global problems.
Our School emphasises the unique role of educators and schools in educating future leaders and inspiring a sustainable world. Education to shape the future is the cornerstone of Our School and gives our students the strength and motivation for a better tomorrow.
Global Schools Programme: A Pioneer in Education for Sustainability
The Global Schools Programme is an initiative of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network supporting UNESCO’s Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). This programme aims to build a more resilient and sustainable world by improving the tools, resources and programmes that support education systems around the world.
Our School supports and embraces the vision of the Global Schools Programme. Our education model ensures that our students graduate equipped with the knowledge, values and skills necessary to respond effectively to the greatest challenges of this century and to build a sustainable, prosperous world.
Sustainability, the focal point of the programme, forms the basis of Bizim Okul’s educational curriculum. Students are provided with a variety of learning opportunities to gain a deep understanding of issues such as environmental awareness, social responsibility, cultural awareness and global citizenship.
Bizim School encourages students to learn deeply about sustainability through active learning methods and project-based learning practices. It also develops students’ skills in finding solutions to global problems through activities such as community service projects and international collaborations.
Bizim School’s education model provides students with a deep understanding of sustainability and sensitivity to global issues in line with the goals of the Global Schools Programme. Preparing future generations for a sustainable world is one of the primary goals of Bizim School, and we are committed to this goal.
..:: What are the Advantages of Global Schools ::..
1. Advantages of Multicultural Environment
Global schools offer an environment where students from various cultures come together and interact. This environment provides students with different perspectives and gives them the opportunity to experience the richness of cultural diversity.
